If simm is present you don't need Cadi. If it is gone then you will need Cadi. It is done by generating the appropriate telegrams.

Get a cable tester and verify your rj45 connectors are ok. I have seen those things get corroded quite a bit.

I was surprized that the culpret was the 5volt. Usually in comm circuits the +-12 is the problem.

Got it. Issue with the power supply. I may have been picking up ripple on the 5volt. New power supply ie problem solved.
