We have a disc brake on a Westinghouse 38 machine. The brake went bad about a year and a half ago and we ordered one from KEB. They didnt make them anymore and we waited like 8 to 10 weeks for a replacement. Now after 40 or 50 runs it is not picking with proper voltage. Has anyone had this problem? Is there another brake to try? Does anyone have adjusting proceadures for this brake?.... Thanks Dan

I don;t know what Brake you are using..but you might consider contacting Hollister Whitney..I have their disc units on my 411,s and they seem to work good without any problems..

Any pics? I've never seen anything but a drum on a Westinghouse 38.

Wow, Why would you remove the original brake from a 38 machine? They never fail and you can still service them! It doesn't sound like Dan did it....just inherited it! Go Figure!

Looks like it came straight from the factory. Castings are in place but were never drilled. Personally i would never put a disc brake on an elevator. We use Hollister Machines and after getting a couple with disc brakes. We now only order them with the old drum brakes. WHY??? well the disc brakes are set up with just thousants of an inch clearances. But as soon as the machine develops a little gear lash your brake is dragging. We have already installed new thrust bearings on machines that we normally wouldnt of touched for years and years.

halfpick--yes thats the one just older. We got some adjustment proceadures from KEB. But if no one elce has seen this set up it looks like we got a factory test beb job. Has been working for years but if you cant get parts when you need them what good is it.
