Have an Otis 10 UCLS controller with a 10kw exciterless mg set that runs but no output voltage. Someone suggested I flash the fields to induce some magnetic field in order to give the fields some flux for the armature to cut to create the DC voltage output. Can someone walk me through that or are there any written instructions on that procedure?

That unit is "Self Excited Field". Notice there are no external connections to any outside source in the loop circuit. The magnetic flux from the GLF (Generator Leveling Field) starts the build-up. Make sure you are getting voltage across the leveling field. If you are then you could have an open coil or a ground. The GF is induced by the leveling field when UX or DX and HX is in with U or D and H. Check all your contacts. Elevator should run on inspection at leveling speed if voltage is passing through leveling fields.

Was the gen pulled or rewired or anything? Or did it just stop working?
