You need to look for an IMS User Guide. Should be one where you purchased it.

In the Control Panel right click Networks select add a Net. It will show up as NET01, right click the new network and select Add a Group, right click the group and select add a car. Then left click the new network and rename it. It's a good idea to change the car name from Car01 to the TK job #. Do the same for every new job you connect to.

Just because you log in does not mean Parameters are saved. You must do a transfer from board to computer.. that's under service menu.

should always create a new network for each individual job. I had a guy who only created one network, which was NET01, then he used this same network for different jobs, he ran into a problem when he was working on a t4, some of the i/o that were being displayed were incorrect. after he created a new job network, the appropriate i.o were now being displayed, and we could see the problem. have to be careful using that tool

You can use one network if you reload every time. I do know a few guys that insist on doing it like that but you can't back up your jobs and Lon config that way.

good to know, it was strange, i was helping over phone, and things just did not seem right with the i/o he was giving me. i guess it would make it easier for the guys who don't use it often, to keep it net01, and reload. ill keep that in mind thanks indirt
