Epoch 1 Group Controller Capacitors (B7) Cabinet

I need to change these filter capacitors in the group cabinet. Does anyone what is the MFD and Voltage of these caps? There are no markings on the side of the capacitors.
Also, I want to pull out all the I/O boards, memory board, and cpu boards to clean off all the carbon dust. What is the procedure for shutting down the group controller to pull the boards? Do you have to shut off all the cars in the group first?

Adams tech support came through with the capacitor info. Here it is if anyone needs it in the future.

AC Capacitor = 660 VAC @ 8 MFD. Part # X44DS6H22
DC Capacitors = 200 VDC @ 3800 MFD. Part # X44DS6H21
Little Capacitor = 400 VDC @ .1 MFD. Part # X44HS1H01

I would shutdown all cars in group and then B7 cabinet. If you just shutdown B7 cars will go on block operation or wild car. Replace the caps and might as well replace muffin fans for drawer.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was planning on changing the muffin fans and the 5 volt power supply all at the same time. I don't think they will be modding for a long time so I want to make sure this group cabinet is good to go.

We took over a job with this equipment that was haveing multabule shut downs a week on a 3 car bank. And we did just what you are planning. Total cleandown of carbon dust from boards and controllers. Replace muffin fans and add filter material between fan and controller. One day of good old fashion cleaning and we went call free for over 9 months! Till the AC went out in MR these babys get trickey over 90 degrees or so.

Reminds me of a 4 bank of Otis Spec 60s' I have. Pretty much bulletproof until the machine room gets above 85 or so. Thankfully I have only one Epoch on my route. Great tips on these.

Dazeitz called this one, had a 6 car group, that pretty much broke down constantly, but as soon as there air went out in the machine room, all hell broke loose. happened every time without exception, these babies don't like a hot room, we got kicked off the job because the building engineer thought we were crazy about keeping the room cool. they refused to keep it ice cold, they even went so far as to get an electrical engineer to exam the prints and equipment to tell us we were wrong. now they have a new elevator company that promised to keep it running top notch, you can guess what the outcome was.

Yep...20 year old equipment..What was once military spec on all those triacs, optos etc..has degraded..They never did like it hot, but degradation over the years is what kills it..

Very suseptible to carbon as well. Now that you've got it cleaned out, don't forget to keep fresh air filters in the controller.
