San Francisco City DC
Pics of a 6 Stop SAPB that was installed in 1922. This and other DC jobs ran of the same grid that the street cars ran on. San Francisco still supplies 200 VDC maybe because it's street cars are still running. 200 VDC is fairly tame compared to Los Angeles and San Diego where it was 500 VDC.

Very cool...Big old knife switch with a rope tied to it for a main line???(Along with a big old bakelite pole to push the knife switch in???)
We had 500VDC down here, but the last of that was stopped by the power comapany in the mid 80's...Only got to see one job of it.
Cool Pics CC..

Is that some kind of selector- The round thing with the wired taps, attached to an air cord drum?

ah now this looks alot like(similar) our old installs.the old selector ran with aircord drive. we had all the lift back in the early 1900's run off the tram supply. 450v dc bi-polar supply. we still have a few still run off this although this supply from the trams has turned off(trams are still here) and the lifts have transformers to replace these supplies. this bi polar + to - with a neutral in the centre(ie + to neutral and - to neutral = 250vdc with + to - 450v dc--- very dangerous)
