We have quite a few 1960 and 1970 version Otis gearless cars on service. And to keep the cars floor level under all load consitions replacing isolation pads and setting micro switches is essential. Does anyone know of an electronic load weighing system that has the 7 or so outputs to equal the number of switches under the car?

hey dan, i have adjusted many of these units over the years, setting rc,tc lc, and adjusting the compensating field to get equal speed at all load settings. this has always been very time consuming to get it perfect. it has been a few years, but i believe we retrofitted a couple of these units with Ktech load weigher that did the trick and worked quite nicely, no more setting load switches under the car and having to rely on the isolation pads to get things right. this reminds me of a time i was adjusting one of these units, i was under the car setting the micro switches and all was well until we put the final full load into the car, i had my arm laying across the buffer waiting to adjust the final switch, when the brake would not hold the load, and the car came on to the buffer, I was lucky to just get my arm out of the buffer with only a few stains in my new underwear. I will never forget how close i came to losing my arm that day. this is a good lesson for all that when putting full loads into a car do not assume that it will hold.

Scott, Great advice I cant tell you the number of time we have see an elevator head to the pit with full load or 125% when checking the break. I tell all my guys to break the load up and bring it to the lowest floor first. No matter how much faster it would be at street level. Having seen a car dissapear from 4 floors up while checking 125% break load will make a true beliver out of you.

Sorry forgot my own topic. K-Tec didnt supply enough outputs for what we needed. They are working on an exspander board. I have another outfit that contacted me and they supply 8 outputs so I may have the problem solved but have yet to install one. But I will share the name and product # if all looks well.
