We have a group of 4 buildings with 10 myprom hydros in them from the early 80s. We have been getting reports on one car stopping 8 inches high opening doors and then leveling in!! So we could never get the car to do this when we were there. So after we got the call again we tried more things to duplacate the problem. We found today that if you lose the safety string or say you turn the car on inspection and then back to normal. And you are on either the LU or LD sensor the doors will open!! We tried this on the other cars and they do the same thing. We still do not know why the car stops in the first place but we now know that it will open the doors away from the door zone but only with a leveling signal. Does anyone know of this problem are of any fixes that may have come along later?

We can make all 10 open the doors without being in a door zone by stoping the car with the safety string or loss of normal run. Opening interlock will not make this happen only loss of direction or safety string.

I assume that DO10 is going high? Do these still have the PMSSC operators?

I know this isn't Kosher by the controls' UL rating, but I think maybe you could run the DO10 signal through an auxillary relay contact, that only comes in when Door Zone is high.

hey vic shouldnt this happen anyway to prevent DO when not in the area you dont want this to happen ie the shaft? it was ALWAYS part of ccts to prevent passengers sticky beaking/falling if stuck in between floors.

Maybe a software issue???

If so, and you are running the old style, obsolete, CPU's it might be worth investing in a CPU upgrade. (Scamp, SRB) It consists of a single board that combines the CPU and PROM board, with the added addition of a tool port. The software is upgraded as well.

Call Kone spares for pricing and more information.

Yeah, I'm in agreeement with you, seems so obvious. But yet, there are very many Montgomery units that will open the doors between floors, in certain circumstances. Like when you go on or off car top inspection, the doors will cycle open, regardless of where the car is, even out of the door zone. Crazy, right?

Ok we finally got to see the problem and do it repeatedly. Turns out the input board rack was bad and we wernt getting LRD thru the rack. Changed out the rack and we are good. But you can still get a door open when you loose a safety string while you are on a leveling vane. As far as new software fixing this problem we up dated the 4 oldest cars to update Fire service about a year ago and got all new software then but these cars too will still open doors off the DZ vane.
