I live in a highrise condo with 3 elevators and an emergency generator. When the power comes back on after an outage, there is often a slight jolt which triggers the elevators to go into EER mode and stop at the nearest floor. Only the Otis technician can put them back in service, a process which can take hours if there are other buildings involved.
Otis says there is no way for our building engineer to override the system and handle this himself. Does this sound right to you? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity level to avoid EER when there has been no earth movement? We're thinking about calling in an independent consultant to take a look, not sure whether that would be a waste of time.
Thanks for your help!

I personally would need more information. See if you can find the following information out;
Manufacturer - Otis?
Model
Error codes
Without these details, it's like throwing darts blindfolded...

It's most likely the transfer of power that causes it.

What type of seismic unit does your elevator(s) have? Does it have a battery back-up? If yes,is that good and working properly?
Is this something that just recently started happening or has this happened everytime power is lost and you go to emergency generators since the building was built.
