We have a Dover Composite traction unit that keeps giving us issues. The elevator will go to the top floor and open like normal but once the doors close intermittently the elevator will run up a few inches and hit the final. This issue has been intermittent. It will run for a day or a week before it goes down but it has been going down pretty much daily for the past week.
Six story building and its only drifting or rising above the floor on the top floor. Appreciate any help.

You could have a traction issue.

Perhaps the ropes have stretched, and you are breaking a buffer switch.

Sounds like it is not suiciding. Check contacts in suicide circuit. Check 14 & 15 contactors for loose armatures.
