HI all,
Anyone else have issues with multiple cars having brake coils overheating?

These are 800fpm and run fairly steady.

Cars are shutting down due to brake coil overheating.
MR's are 90 degrees or so most of time during day.

Rest of equipment seems to be fine.

Thanks
Jim

Kind of unit?

I would check the voltages going to the brake to make sure it's not to high.

You might want to suggest to the building owner that the MR needs to be cooled down.

Most units have pick voltage and then a much lower hold voltage to keep coils cooler. What kind of voltages do you read. Pick and Hold?

Hard to pin point the problem without knowing what kind of controls. Alot of units will do some sort of picking bk1,bk2,bk3 and dropping bk2 bk3 to hold the brake. Takes more to pick less to hold.

If it uses some sort of board to control the brake then you might have a board issue. Also check the incoming voltage into the board.

no doubt ambient temp plays a part plus a high traffic volume also. i would however check you brake cooling contacts and resistors on the brake coils themselves or 6 pack module drivers if you have them. start there, confirm voltages are what they are supposed to be via the prints, confirm drop down volts as well, if you can compare to like lifts if you have them.
