Even though some elevator companies dont think they have a jumper problem Cal OSHA does. Take a look at Toms story on this weeks Elevator Pod Cast

Yep, Looks like a jumper on a safety device while car is in normal service is illegal....even a timed-out jumper.

Toms elevator radio show is always worth a listen. The circular letter he referenced was succinctly written. Both are worth your time and attention.

I applaud such people for the courage demonstrated in standing up for the right thing (even if it is not popular). I have seen such courage in the actions of mechanics who would lock out and tag out an elevator when the door restrictor or other safety device does not properly work subsequent to a valiant attempt to repair or remedy the situation.
May I suggest that what it was that Meatloaf refuses to do is to return a conveyance to service with any sort of safety device disabled?

Thanks to the people who inspire me by demonstrating the courage to stand up for their beliefs and convictions.

Its very sad-Ive seen this one especially on bi-parting doors. The "doors locked" contact jumped. Its pretty frightening to see that one in action!

Another scary one is the WAGO connectors used on the newer controls. You just need to bend a piece of #12 solid to short out all kinds of things. Found one jumping out the upper directional switches....Brake wasn't holding and car would relevel at times!
