If you get a recall on your vehicle,do you have to pay for the fix?
No.

If a company has a corrective instruction that needs to be done to an elevator rather it is under there contract or not ,should the customer have to pay?
No.

Then why is the big green doing that?

depends if it is a compulsory or non-compulsory corrective instruction. ci's are usually for reliability issues for units otis services. its not a safety recall like in the automotive field.

Ends up being an issue with software and the door detector .
So it would seem to be a safety issue. Also,they are not giving any hours for it.
30 minute upgrade in software turns into a 6 hour shutdown.
