Design Flaw or poor preventive maintenance program? These images is from Dover 2002 vintage TAC-50 geared machines. Four out of the five machines have similar wear on the ring gears. Is this typical of TK machines. I'm told that TK has a crew dedicated to going around and rebuilding the gear boxes when the ring gears fail. Can someone provide insight as to whether this is caused by a failed design, breakdown of the oil or something else...
