You know more than me on this topic.The straight up Northern units I had must’ve been the Normic model (20+ years ago!) but did not have pre opening. My thinking was car in motion with no DL/GL thus an error and shutdown.
But yes they did run quite well other than that nuisance maintenance time out feature.
