Hello, I recently became the proud owner of a very old elevator. Sadly it is stuck at the top floor. Id like to get it down to the basement. If there is anyone who knows how they operate, I'd love to know. Here are some images. Any knowledge of this is appreciated. From what I know, the building was a foundry in 1908. This is the original freight elevator still in place. It seems all the cables and weights are there as well.
Says Moline Elevator on the large cross member at the top.

Great old unit. How long has the elevator been out of service.
Keep in mind this frieght elevator was built over 100 years ago. The codes have changed and this lift is not up to code. If your plans are to convert the building into apartments this unit will not be useful.
Let us know what your plans are for the building. And if you are willing where the building is located.

Moline was the forerunner of Montgomery Elevator co, now Kone Elevator. Headquarters are still in Moline ILL. It looks to be an old broken rope type safety Freight Elevator. I would highly recommend calling Kone or any other reputable Elevator company in your area. They will be able to assist you. There is nothing DIY on an Elevator.

Thats an awesome find! As stated above, its a Moline elevator. They were purchased by A.E. Montgomery in the early 1900's, there are very few of those left.
