any suggestions for an add on brake pick switch?

We have a geared montgomery triplex coming up, that we need to add a brake pick switch.

Can fabricate a bracket for a microswitch or a proximity sensor

Use the BZE6 Honeywell. Mount it on a plate/kendoff.

Do you have job prints? The brake switch was a common item on the geared Miprom 21’s, and hopefully the switch wiring terminals (regardless of model) are on the controller backplane. Back in the day we found several Montgomery geared jobs where that switch was jumped out or removed completely.

Yes have job prints. These are circa 65 units with the christmas tree relays and that little motor under the main controller. (I dont know what those were for) Rolly told me one time, but of course, that was before he passed a few years back.

These have the brake coils mounted on one of the brake arms.

Oh man, from that era huh? I’d venture to say over half the active members here weren’t even born then.

Mounting the switch is probably the easiest part of this idea. But…What is the purpose of a brake switch? I don’t even know how a brake switch could be “monitored” with that equipment. What…insert the switch in either directional relay with no feature to sense motion with brake dropped or picked to halt or engage brake/drive output? Not to mention pick/drop timing. Oh boy.

Who advised that upgrade, a friend of the building manager aka the “consultant”? (Sarcasm is heavy here).

Honestly, when adding/modifying circuitry not engineered by the manufacturer for said equipment, are you not setting the company and self up for lawsuits?

My take on this is…I wouldn’t touch it. I’m not that qualified.

Well that makes things a lot easier. You’ll figure that part out.
